I have been working as a freelance photographer and content creator in Mainz since 2012. My work focuses on portrait, reportage, street and sports photography, as well as business and brand communication. As a Voigtländer Ambassador, a member of the Headshot Crew and a leader of Ringfoto workshops, I regularly share my experience and passion for photography with others. I also give talks and run workshops at trade fairs such as Imaging World and run my own YouTube channel. My work combines a genuine connection with people with keen observation and visual storytelling. I have been using Leica as my photographic system since 2016.

Which visual mediums do you use?

Photography, videography, short-form content using smartphones, as well as action cameras, bodycams and much more for YouTube content.

How did you get started in this?

It’s difficult to break that down into individual points; something new has been cropping up all the time.

Do you have a particular area of interest or genre you’re interested in?

Everything to do with people. I’m simply interested in people and their stories.

Who and/or what inspires you most?

That changes very often; I always try to keep up to date with new creative talent.

What do you like about it? The fact that it’s so compact and easy to use.

How does it help you realize your creative vision? It helps me expose analogue film correctly. It also means that, for example, in my work as a photographer for the Handball Bundesliga, I can ensure the jersey colors are rendered accurately even in difficult lighting conditions.

Why is accurate color important within your workflow?

Because photos of me are regularly printed for sponsors, leaflets, display stands, posters and so on, and it’s important that the colors are reproduced accurately.

What was the deciding factor in your decision to use colour management?

In one of the printed stadium magazines, various images looked too different, even though they didn’t look that way on the monitor.

What’s your biggest challenge at work these days?

To work quickly, effectively and yet accurately.

What’s your objective when you create something?

I want my work to appeal to as many people as possible and to give them a lovely time.

Try again.

Do you have a fun fact you want to share about yourself?

At a wedding once, I didn’t recognize an American who suddenly turned up, and I didn’t take a photo with him. Later, we found out from the bellboy that it was Johnny Depp, who was staying at the same hotel.
