He specializes in high-end advertising, fine art portraiture, and cinematic image production. Based in Cebu, Philippines, he is renowned for creating visually striking photographs. Which visual mediums do you use?

Photography and video. I enjoy working across both because they allow me to tell stories in different ways from a single powerful image to a moving sequence that brings an entire concept to life.

How did you get started in this?

It started as a hobby, but it became serious really quickly. The more I learned and created, the more I realized that photography wasn’t just something I enjoyed it was something I wanted to continuously pursue and grow in.

Do you have a particular area of interest or genre you’re interested in?

I’m particularly drawn to conceptual photography, actual set building, and composite work. I love creating an idea from the ground up and bringing it to life, whether that means physically building the set or creating elements digitally in post-production.

Who and/or what inspires you most?

I’m inspired by creatives who don’t just take a picture, but actually build their vision from the ground up. I really admire artists who are involved in every part of the process, from planning and creating the set to shooting and doing their own post-production.

Why is accurate color important within your workflow?

For me, color is a huge part of the story and the emotion behind an image. I put a lot of thought into the colors I envision, so I want people to see the image the way I intended it to look. Accurate color helps make sure that my vision translates from my screen to the final image as faithfully as possible.

What’s your biggest challenge at work these days?

One of the biggest challenges is working with clients who are budget-conscious but still want a big production and high-end results. It pushes me to be more creative and not just with the final image, but with how I plan, build, and execute the entire production.

What’s your objective when you create something?

My objective is simple: to bring what I have envisioned in my mind into reality as accurately as possible. I want the final image to feel as close as possible to the idea I had when I first imagined it.

Best bit of advice you ever got?

It’s simple, but it applies to almost everything in the creative process. The quality of what you put in from the idea and preparation to the execution, ultimately affects what you get out.

Do you have a fun fact you want to share about yourself?

“I actually enjoy building things almost as much as photographing them. Give me a creative concept, and there’s a good chance I’ll want to build the set myself!” 🙂

Do you have a tip for your audience?

As photographers, we put so much of ourselves into every image we create. Our colors should be just as true to our vision. That’s why I believe color calibration is so important it helps make sure that what you see is what others see, and that your vision comes through exactly the way you intended.
