Updated Living Room Using ColorReader EZ
When I decided to update our living room, I wanted to achieve an overall harmonious look. Therefore, I decided to incorporate the colors from the sofa cushions as precisely as possible into the painting I planned on creating and hanging right above the sofa. ColorReader EZ was the perfect tool for this project.
I wanted to paint the picture myself, so I chose a technique that is currently very trendy: acrylic pouring. Pouring means mixing acrylic paint with a so called pouring medium to achieve a flowing effect, where the paint finds its way all over the canvas. The result is always a surprise.
The one thing about this project that should not be a surprise were the colors. I wanted them to perfectly match the sofa cushions.
So, I used ColorReader EZ to identify the two primary colors in our living room: RAL 6034 and RAL 080 70 – these were my sofa cushion’s colors and would be the ones I would include in the painting I wanted to hang just above my sofa.
Material needed for acrylic pouring:
I had the colors mixed in a hardware store and then mixed them with a pouring medium in a ratio of 1:1. A blow dryer lets the colors flow into each other nicely or helps them spread all over the canvas, which gives an effect I really like.
The result is beautifully harmonious, since the colors pull together the look and color scheme in my living room design.
The beauty of this approach to updating one’s living room is that it doesn’t require an investment in new furniture or décor items, and you can achieve a fresh look with very few resources.
