Transform a Kitchen with Fresh Color for the Cabinets
A coat of paint on the walls has transformed many a tired looking room, so it’s little wonder that painting kitchen cabinets can net similar impressive results.
In The Design Network’s Holistic Home series finale, program host and nature-inspired design enthusiast Briana Bosch, helps new parents Nate and Emily, transform the look of their kitchen by upgrading the backsplash, hardware pulls, and lighting, plus adding a fresh coat of paint to the cabinetry.
Emily and Nate’s light and airy décor throughout the rest of their home contrasted sharply with the kitchen’s darker look that included rich, wood cabinets, dark countertops and a patterned backsplash. And since the layout of the home included the kitchen as an open-spaced, center hub of the home, the style shift was more than just a little noticeable, seen at virtually every angle from the first floor. Homeowner Emil,y wanted some color in the kitchen, since the majority of the rest of the home was white, but she also wanted to be sure the color had an integrated feel with the rest of her home. Bosch, and her ColorReader EZ came to the rescue!
Bosch, often turns to her flower farm for color inspiration, using her ColorReader EZ to capture just the right hue for whatever design project she’s working on. For Emily and Nate, Bosch scanned the color of a eucalyptus plant by placing the ColorReader EZ on the flat surface of one of its leaves. The resulting color match was a perfectly balanced soft green, that looked both modern and organic – perfect for the kitchen refresh!
