Interview with Zhimu | Partnering with Delta Color to create a low-carbon, intelligent “color supply chain” benchmark

Recently, PCI interviewed Guangdong Zhimu New Material Co., Ltd, which focuses on industrial and wood coatings color mixing, and Mr. Duan Le, General Manager, and Mr. Wen Weihua, Vice President of Technology, accepted the interview. During the exchange, we learned more about the details of the cooperation between Zhimu and Delta Color, and how they work together to improve quality and efficiency, and build a low-carbon, intelligent “color supply chain”.

All-in-one solution: cracking the traditional color mixing dilemma

There are many problems in wood paint color mixing and proofing. The traditional method relies on the colorist’s experience, resulting in low color accuracy, large color deviation between batches and poor reproducibility. Small and medium-sized manufacturers need to re-sample when adding orders or reproducing colors, which is not only time-consuming and labor-intensive, but also difficult to ensure the consistency of product colors, affecting production efficiency and product quality.
For this reason, Zhimu worked closely with DETA to implement the integrated solution of “software + color paste + equipment” to promote the intelligent color mixing system from “experience color mixing” to “data color mixing”.
Mr. Duan imaginatively compared: “If the ‘integrated color mixing solution’ is compared to a ‘wood color factory’, Zhimu Color provides the key machine-tuned special color paste and the basic database, while DETA Color contributes its high-precision instrumentation and powerful algorithmic software. instrumentation and powerful algorithmic software, the two work hand in hand to create an intelligent system solution.”
The cooperation with DETA has brought two significant transformations to Zhimu:
Intelligence, the color mixing technology is upgraded from experience-driven to data-driven, with a significant increase in efficiency, the machine can mix dozens of colors a day, and the accuracy improves with use, enabling fast proofing and color consistency reproduction.
In terms of low-carbonization, the system provides “zero-adjustment” formulas for similar colors and supports tail-free production, which not only reduces costs but also reduces waste and helps green manufacturing.

Improving quality and efficiency: deep synergies forging efficient results

The ZM-P series of ZM Colors is a breakthrough product in the industry, and the deep synergy between the Delta Color Management System and the ZM-P series of color pastes has led to highly effective results.
“The Deta 750 color measurement equipment and Colibri software provide key data support for ZM-P color pastes in terms of color measurement and other aspects, guaranteeing accurate and consistent color pastes.” Mr. Wen Weihua, Vice President of Technology, said.
The whole set of system through the DC750 colorimeter within a few seconds to complete the color identification, can be instantly provided by the software to provide a number of sets of AE value of less than 0.5, or even less than 0.1 of the accurate formula. Combined with the excellent fluidity of ZM-P color paste and 0.015 grams of machine feeding accuracy, it realizes the accurate proportioning according to the needs and eliminates the tail material from the source.
In addition, the system database can continue to learn to optimize the similar color orders directly to the immediate use of the formula, significantly reducing the repetition of debugging, to achieve “the more you use the more accurate”, is a good helper for the color master.
Mr. Wen Weihua also cited as an example, “The DC 200R and Colibri software that we deployed in our stores in Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and other high-fashion furniture clusters have gained very positive market feedback after more than three years of practical application.”
From the past manually adjusted up to seven or eight colors per day, upgraded to today’s machines can complete 30 or 40 per day. At the same time, the system achieves accurate color reproduction by virtue of the database formula, which perfectly solves the core problem of rapid sampling and order replenishment in the field of high-end customization.
This set of solutions to achieve “as much as you want, adjust as much as”, not only to save labor and materials, the working environment is also more clean, to meet the small batch, multi-lot customized production needs.
